When out in the LA area last week I picked up a new pair of shoes at the grocery store, and they’re great! I’ve been looking for them everywhere I travel but unfortunately my travels haven’t taken me near a Whole Foods Market.
Until now. What a place!
The shoes are “Simple - Green Toe” brand and, without doubt, the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. The best part is they’re constructed from natural and sustainable materials.
And the nice part was being able to sample the raspberry:cabernet gelato before leaving the store.
What a great combination idea to fit sustainable footwear into the natural and organic foods brand of Whole Food Market.

Ron Paul Wins Web 2.0 Election!
In an exclusive Decision Velocity unscientific poll conducted over the weekend, Ron Paul soundly beat all other contenders in a full-field election.
The full-field consisted of all announced candidates from all parties and affiliations. The poll lumped all candidates together in a head-to-head competition with Democrats, Independents, Republicans and all others listed in one master ballot, with only one vote allowed. The top results were:
- Ron Paul – Republican 34%
- Barack Obama – Democrat 22%
- Hillary Clinton - Democrat 10%
- Bill Richardson - Democrat 7%
- John Edwards – Democrat 3%
This result stands in stark contrast to mainstream media coverage which routinely ignores Ron Paul in their coverage of the Republican race.
In related questions to Web 2.0 use, 40% of those polled used Twitter, and 68% said they were 90% sure they would vote in 2008.
What conclusions do YOU draw from these results?
[If you don’t like the results, ask yourself, “Did I vote?”.]

In response to Elinor Mill’s CNet Perspective “The Case against Twitter“:
Ok. Twitter can waste time. So can going to Starbucks or the movies. But with Twitter there’s some nascent power and learning going on.
Here’s 4 ways Twitter adds good things to us who use it.
1.) People who would normally work isolated, can interact with people all over the globe to get answers to questions, meaningful or trivial.
2.) Twitter provides direct “eye-witness” accounts from independent observers at the same event, occurring in near real-time.
3.) Twitter allows the development of light social bonds to form amongst people from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, geographies etc. It is the social gravity of the web. A weak but important force in this era of “bowling alone”.
4.) Finally, we don’t know what we don’t know about the reverberations yet to emanate from Twitter and other “social network” sites. I for one will bet on the unknown and subscribe to H.L. Mencken’s quote -
“Penetrating so many secrets we cease to believe in the unknowable. But there it sits nevertheless calmly licking its chops.”
PS: Should we ever need a popular uprising to protect our Democracy, Twitter seems a great tool to get the word out!
