A Science to Happiness: Can we decide to get happier?

We are bombarded everyday by advertisements showing other people being happy because of the type of car they drive, the food they eat or the money they invest.  Can it really be that simple.  Of course not.  We all know that.

But what can we do to be happier?  Is there some magic formula of decisions we can make which will carry us into the land of joy?

The BBC has a series called the “Happiness Formula” with a variety of different looks and insights into that elusive state of mind.

It turns out that the mountainous country of Bhutan actually considers GNH (Gross National Happiness) effects when making decisions about national policy.  Sounds like a great place to live.

There’s also an intriguing video segment on what motivates people to be happier, money or a worthwhile cause.  The audio’s a little rough but the point gets made none the less. I’ll bet you can guess the outcome.
