Can’t Decide to Clean Up Your Mill’s Discharge? Bring in the Dynamite…
Turns out that in China if your papermill is a chronic polluter and as the owner you do not clean up your act, they don’t just shut you down. They dynamite the plant so it can’t restart. Now that’s some regulatory high impact decision velocity!
It seems there’s about 101 papermills on Dongting Lake and most of them discharge above allowed limits into the lake, causing problems with the fishery and the drinking water supply. Clean water shortages are reaching crisis levels in some parts of the country. Very serious problem.
